Safe travelling abroad means taking the necessary steps to ensure your safety while travelling abroad, while we are moving into summer months travelling abroad becomes more common. Around 5.9% of young travellers aged 16 to 35 reported an accidental injury while travelling and around 26% of non natural deaths while abroad were caused by motor vehicle crashes.

Why is it so important?

As a young person you are exploring the world more and travelling can become a big interest. Travel safety is paramount because travelling can expose you to many different risks, ensuring you make yourself aware of these could prevent the risk of harm to yourself or others.

Open Water Drowning

Drowning accidents are significantly higher during warmer weather and holidays, 37% of accidental fatalities were people who had no intention of entering the water, unfortunately they fell in while walking, running, or engaging in outdoor activity next to open water. Consuming alcohol before going next to open water can also be dangerous with between 20-50% of adult drowning involving alcohol.
