IPS offer the Level 4 Pearson BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) in General Engineering. HNC is the next step up for all learners who have undertaken a Level 3 BTEC in Engineering. Within this qualification, we currently offer two pathways –

Second Year Electrical:
- Thermodynamic
- Electrical and Electronic Principles
- Production Engineering for Manufacture
- Engineering Project (externally set)
Second Year Mechanical:
- Thermodynamic
- Mechanical Principles
- Production Engineering for Manufacture
- Engineering Project (externally set)
Course Objective
- Learners will gain a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, as well as sector-specific units depending on their chosen pathway
- This qualification will prepare learners to progress further onto either a Higher National Diploma or a full engineering degree.
Time Frame
This course is two years for a part-time student over two separate academic years, starting September and finishing May/June.

Additional Information
This qualification gives the opportunity for learners to progress further into Higher Education, either a Higher National Diploma (Level 5) or a Degree (Level 6).
