Principles of End of Life Care
This course is suitable for individuals who working in - or intend to work in - healthcare and social care settings who may come across and handle an end of life care case. It allows for a deeper understanding in the end of life care required to support their role, as well as enabling them to progress within the sector of end of life and palliative care, maybe into bereavement care.
This course aims to develop the knowledge and understanding of how to work within the end of life care sector, the support required to manage pain and discomfort, how dementia can have an impact on end of life care, the role that the care worker has in the time of death, as well as the loss and grief process.
The qualification is comprised of 6 mandatory units that learners must achieve:
Unit 01 - Understand how to work in end of life care
Unit 02 - Care planning in end of life care
Unit 03 - Understand how to provide support to manage pain and discomfort
Unit 04 - End of life care and dementia
Unit 05 - Understand the role of the care worker in time of death
Unit 06 - Understand loss and grief in end of life
- Upon completion, progression opportunities may include the Level 3 Certificate in Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes, Level 3
Certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social Care and Level 3 Certificate for Working in the Health Sector.
A 12 week course.
Learners can study at a time and place convenient to them. Designed for study by distance learning at work or home. You will receive the course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by phone, email and one support session. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to 12 weeks from the date of registration.
