Principles of End of Life Care
This course is suitable for individuals who are seeking to increase their knowledge of the Principles of End of Life Care within a Health and Social Care setting. It is aimed at those individuals who work within the Health and Social Care settings and are caring for those who have a life-limiting illness. The course aims to provide learners of the range of approaches to end of life care, as well as providing an understanding of how to support an individuals familial, spiritual, social and emotional needs.
This course aims to develop the learner’s understanding of end of life care and the approaches surrounding this. It will explore the common questions and themes that arise in end of life care, as well as preparing the learner to confront issues of death and bereavement.
The qualification is comprised of 5 mandatory units that learners must achieve:
Unit 01 - Understanding end of life care
Unit 02 - Communication during end of life care
Unit 03 - Assessment and care planning in end of life care
Unit 04 - Person-centred approaches to end of life care
Unit 05 - Care during the final hours of life and bereavement
- Upon completion, progression opportunities may include the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health and the Level 3 Certificate in Understanding the Principles of Dementia Care.

Learners can study at a time and place convenient to them. Designed for study by distance learning at work or home. You will receive the course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by phone, email and one support session. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to 12 weeks from the date of registration.
