This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to develop their understanding of autism and the principles of supporting individuals to live healthy and fulfilled lives. The course will benefit anyone working - or looking to work - with individuals who have an Autistic Spectrum Condition.

This course aims to develop the learner’s understanding of autism and the principles of supporting autistic individuals. It also covers the person-centred approach and the influence of positive communication methods, how to support positive behaviour as well as how autistic individuals can be supported.

In order to achieve the Certificate, learners are required to successfully complete 6 mandatory units:


Unit 01 - Introduction to Autism
Unit 02 - Using a person-centred approach to supporting autistic individuals
Unit 03 - Communication and social interaction in autistic individuals
Unit 04 - Sensory processing, perception and cognition in autistic individuals
Unit 05 - Supporting positive behaviour in autistic individuals
Unit 06 - Supporting autistic individuals to live healthy and fulfilled lives

 

  • Upon completion, progression opportunities may include the Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s Workforce (Early Years Educator), Level 3
    Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care, Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support
    and Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Autism

Learners can study at a time and place convenient to them. Designed for study by distance learning at work or home. You will receive the course manual, assignments and study guide plus tutor support by phone, email and one support session. You can start at any time and plan your studies over a period of up to 12 weeks from the date of registration.
