This course is suitable for anyone who wishes to develop their understanding of the care and management of diabetes; suitable for those who work within the Health and Social Care sector.

This course aims to develop the understanding of the different types of diabetes and how they can occur, as well as developing awareness of how the onset of Type 2 diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes. Also develops an understanding of a diabetes diagnosis and the initial care required, as well as the on-going care required and treatment to control blood sugar levels.

In order to achieve the Certificate, learners are required to successfully complete 4 mandatory units:
Unit 01 - Understanding diabetes
Unit 02 - Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes
Unit 03 - Understanding the initial care of diabetes
Unit 04 - Understanding the treatment and management of diabetes

  • Upon completion, progression opportunities may include the Level 3 Certificate in Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes, Level 3
    Certificate in Preparing to work in Adult Social Care and Level 3 Certificate for Working in the Health Sector.
